The name of the formation comes from a fourth needle-shaped pillar that once stood in the gap between the second and third chalk stacks. Known as Lot's Wife it collapsed during a storm in 1764.
Blackburn Buccaneer S2B XX894 unfurls it's wings at Bruntingthorpe. The aircraft, in 809 Naval Air Squadron livery, is maintained in ground-running condition by The Buccaneer Aviation Group. The Blackburn Buccaneer programme was originally known as BANA (Blackburn Advanced Naval Aircraft) hence the nickname of ‘Banana Jet’. This is a composite image (as if you couldn’t guess), not just in terms of the multiple exposures but also the background has been tidied up to clone out the rows of vehicles stored on this site.
Note the lack of windscreen wipers on this 1952 Scammell 'Showmans Special'. The rear of the vehicle contains a generator to power fairground amusements.

Caledonian Railway numbers 419 and 828 shelter from the rain in the ex-Haymarket train shed. Captured at the SRPS Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway in November 2018 during the ‘Caledonian Reunion’ photocharter organised by 'In Search of Steam'. This brought together Caledonian Railway 812 Class number 828, normally based at the Strathspey Railway, and the recently overhauled Bo’ness-based 439 Class number 419.

On Friday 23rd May 2014 fire swept through the A-listed Mackintosh building at Glasgow School of Art. The firefighters succeeded in saving much of the building and contents. A few days later this Mackintosh-styled sign of gratitude adorned Kenny Hunter's 'Citizen Firefighter' statue.
Somewhere within this web of freshly painted steel is a steam locomotive. 46115 'Scots Guardsman'. This was during a SRPS organised 'Forth Circle' Railtour on 28th April 2012.

Avro Lancaster 'Just Jane' runs up her four Rolls-Royce Merlin 24 engines at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. She was built by Austin Motors at Longbridge in April 1945, part of a batch of 150 B Mk VII Avro Lancasters destined for service in the Far East. However, cessation of hostilities against Japan resulted in her immediately being surplus to requirements and going in to storage for the next seven years. In 1952 she was bought and operated by the French Government as a maritime patrol aircraft latterly performing air sea rescue and cartography roles in the South Pacific. She was retired in 1964, flown to Sydney then the 12,000 miles back to the UK. After a few more twists and turns, including 10 years as a gate guardian at RAF Scampton, she finally arrived in East Kirkby in 1987. It is hoped to eventually return her to airworthy condition and join the two remaining airworthy Lancs. This image is a composite of two images taken during a TimeLine Events photoshoot. The sky and aircraft from one engine run and the wet apron from a second engine run an hour later. The engine starter trolley has also been cloned out.
